Its massive size makes it impossible to overlook. As we stepped through the entrance, the coolness of the thick walls was instantly noticeable, offering relief from the afternoon heat. We spent the afternoon wandering around the courtyard, observing the small student rooms, known as hujras, where people once lived and studied. The atmosphere felt calm, quiet, and deeply meaningful. After five days of exploring the city, standing in the center of this grand structure made me realize just how rich Bukhara’s history truly is.  Practice💫 #day_4✨️ Location📍:Bolo Hovuz✨️ Date📆: 16.04.2026 Today we explored one of the most graceful and picturesque places in Bukhara—the Bolo Haouz Complex. It stands just across from the Ark Fortress, and from the moment we arrived, the beautifully carved wooden pillars of the iwan immediately caught our attention. The atmosphere here feels completely different from the heavy stone and brick architecture we’ve seen before. It’s lighter, more delicate, and artistic. We spent some time sitting beside the large pond in front of the mosque. The water was perfectly still, reflecting the tall columns like a mirror. It was incredibly peaceful to watch the reflections while practicing our English vocabulary. For a moment, it felt as if we were guests in the Emir’s own private place of prayer.  Practice💫 #day_3✨️ Location📍:Mir Arab✨️ Date📆: 15.04.2026 Today we made our way back to the center of the city to explore the Mir-i-Arab Madrasah, located directly across from the Kalyan Mosque. Unlike many of the places we’ve visited, which feel more like preserved museums, this madrasah feels truly alive. Students can still be seen walking in and out with their books, continuing a tradition of learning that has lasted for centuries. We spent quite a while in the square, simply admiring the grand pishtaq—the towering entrance portal. The mosaic decoration is incredibly rich, filled with deep blue, turquoise, and white patterns that seem almost endless. Although the inner student areas are not open to visitors, even standing by the wooden gates and catching a glimpse of the courtyard gave a strong impression of the calm and focused atmosphere inside. We spent the afternoon in Samanid Park, one of the rare places in Bukhara filled with lush grass and tall trees. After walking through the dry, dusty streets, it was such a refreshing change. The main highlight was the Samanid Mausoleum. From afar, it appears quite simple, almost like a plain brown cube. But as we got closer, the details became incredible. There are no bright tiles or colors—just brick—but the way the bricks are arranged makes it look like a beautifully woven pattern, almost like a basket. We also visited Chashma-Ayub (Job’s Well), known for its cool and refreshing water. To end the day, we rode the Ferris wheel in the park.  Practice💫 #day_1✨️ Location📍:Poi Kalon✨️ Date📆: 13.04.2026 Today marked the true beginning of our journey in Bukhara, and we started at its most famous landmark. As soon as we entered the square, the Kalyan Minaret immediately captured our attention. It rises so high that you almost have to bend your neck all the way back just to see the top—it feels like a towering stone needle reaching into the sky. We spent most of the morning exploring the Kalyan Mosque. Its courtyard is incredibly vast, large enough to accommodate thousands of people, yet it still felt calm and serene. Walking beneath the long rows of arches was mesmerizing. The brickwork is especially impressive—each layer features its own unique pattern. We couldn’t resist taking countless photos, especially of the sunlight casting beautiful shadows across the ground.
